Richard Harrison, Director, Creative Communications + PR
Richard Harrison has had an extraordinary career in advertising, considering he was raised by wolves in the mountains of Tucson Arizona. He was able to claw his way to civilization, and ended up at the University of Arizona, majoring in Radio-Television production, with a minor in Advertising. During his tenure at U of A, Harrison became the president of the Ad Club, and received the national scholarship award to attend the Direct Mail Marketing Institute in Chicago. A friend and him started Waco Productions which produced jingles for the retail market and cultivated and recorded demos for local bands.
Following that stint, Richard was an on-air personality with KAIR Radio in Tucson.
He took a job as an MC for a fashion show for free food, and was spotted by a nightclub owner, and was asked if he would like to perform at his club. “Telling jokes, doing sight gags, playing music, and drawing a salary…. for a guy who looked like a mushroom, a very cool gig,” Harrison said.
Moving to Los Angeles, Richard scored big on the game show circuit as a contestant. Six shows….trips, a car. lots of money, and cat food, a year’s supply on ‘Wheel of Fortune,’ he’s highly allergic to man’s second best friend.
Teaming up with his brother, Richard was the VP of Operations at one of the largest jewelry manufacturers on the West Coast. His client base included regional and national accounts; Home Shopping Network, Ben Bridge, Princess Cruises, and Overstock.com. He still takes out the trash, and picks up the dog poop, at home.
Favorite quotes; let’s make it happen, leave em’ laughin’, it’s show time, and don’t eat onions before a meeting…..
